One of the victims of the strike made by Andrea Iannone at Balaton Park in the opening phase of SBK Race 1 last Saturday, Iker Lecuona returned to Valencia with a fractured radius and ulna that will force him to stay put for some time.
Operated on Monday afternoon at the IMED Burjassot Hospital, the Spaniard of the HRC team wanted to reassure his fans by posting an IG story depicting him with his left arm bandaged and wrapped in a brace, in the company of Professor Eduardo Sanchez Alepuz who took care of him, which was followed by a response from his team with wishes for a speedy recovery.
Also on Instagram, the Spaniard then wanted to pay tribute to MRD Racing Designs and LS2 Europe who had taken care of creating him an ad hoc helmet for the 8 Hours of Suzuka in which he was supposed to participate next weekend riding for Honda in place of Luca Marini and together with Takumi Takahashi and Johann Zarco and where he will be replaced by Xavi Vierge as confirmed in a statement from the Japanese manufacturer.
"The result of the helmet could not make me happier even if not everything ended as hoped. I would like to thank the doctor and his team for doing the surgery immediately. Next Monday (Aug. 4) I am scheduled for a checkup and from there will start rehabilitation to return as soon as possible. Thank you all for the messages and support. Now I have to stop to recover and come back stronger than before," wrote the 25-year-old, who has already returned home after a night in observation.
