SBK: Misano ends early for Aegerter: unfit after fall in Race 1

Dominique Aegerter's round in Misano ended a day early. The GRT team's Swiss rider  was declared unfit to continue the weekend, following injuries sustained in yesterday's accident in Race 1. After being hit by his brand mate, Bahattin Sofuoglu at Turn 8 and falling, the Supersport and MotoE World Champion underwent a medical check-up during which they diagnosed a neck injury and a contusion to his left knee.

"It's really a shame to end the weekend like this. I felt we could have had a good race. The superpole wasn't perfect, but the times were very close, and I felt confident for race one. I got a good start trying to stay close to the front group but, after just eight corners, another rider fell and hit me. There was nothing I could do," Aegerter said. "Unfortunately, I was also injured and, after check-ups at the medical center, I was declared unfit. I'm disappointed. I would've liked to race, but now the goal is to recover and come back stronger."
