Bautista: "Positive day, but the gap from Bulega is still big"

"I focused on my riding position and set-up, which I will also work on tomorrow, and in both cases I got comforting answers although there is still a lot of work to be done."

SBK: Bautista: "Positive day, but the gap from Bulega is still big"

Alvaro Bautista is on the rise and proved it again in this Tuesday's test at the Misano circuit. Second behind Toprak Razgatlioglu in the morning, then fourth in the afternoon session, the Ducati Aruba rider breathed a sigh of relief at the sensations he felt and in seeing that what he tried unseen led to an overall improvement.

"It was a good day because we did some important tests and I was satisfied. Particularly in the morning we worked on the position on the bike, which is usually impossible to test during the race weekend because you only think about performance and less about sensations, and we found something that helped me, nothing that made a difference, but at least in the direction we wanted, so now I can turn the bike with more ease. It has to be said that 90 percent of what you try on this track works because the grip is high, so it has to be taken with a pinch of salt. However, considering that the next round will be right here, at least I have the certainty for a weekend that we will not have problems," he said smiling at the end.

"Later in the afternoon, we focused on set-up, but I was only able to make one run because of the rain. However, the feedback was quite positive as I found some solutions that could help. There will be work to be done on it, however, at least we collected some data and we will see tomorrow if we can find the right fit to decrease the gap from the strongest," he continued in his examination.

"It is important to say that for these tests we are using the old tyres and not the new generation tyres, so I was only able to put the new X on the rear in the afternoon and I felt comfortable right away, but then, as mentioned, it started to rain. I am happy because without looking for speed the times came without pushing too much - he then highlighted before going into more detail - In general the sensations have improved compared to 2024 and this is thanks to the great work on the bike done in the winter, however despite being faster than ever I still have a significant gap especially on Bulega, so there is work to be done. Also for this reason these days are crucial, as is the subsequent analysis to find solutions."
