Superbike is preparing for the final sprint and Toprak is sharpening his weapons ahead of the title race. With a 39-point lead in the championship over Bulega, the Turk could conclude the world championship title battle as early as this weekend, namely at the Estoril round.
In order to do so, the BMW rider would have to leave Portugal with an advantage of 62 points over Nicolò, i.e. score 23 points more than his Aruba rival over the weekend.
In the best scenario, should Toprak win all three races, Bulega must do no better than third in all three races. Should Razgatlioglu finish second in all the races, Nicolò must do no better than second in Race 1 and Race 2 and then fail to score points in the Superpole Race.
In short: the magic number in favor of Toprak to beat Bulega to win the title is 23, which is the extra points to be scored over the Aruba rider in the Portuguese weekend.
In addition to Bulega, the math also keeps Alvaro Bautista in the fight, but he is 81 points adrift from the top. To eliminate the Spaniard from the title race, Toprak must not lose more than 19.
So we will see if at Estoril it will be a world championship title celebration or not.
