Moto2: Foggia and Moreira in infirmary: Italtrans team won't race in Indonesia

The Italtrans Racing team announced that both of its riders won't be taking part in the Indonesian Grand Prix, scheduled this weekend at the Mandalika Circuit.

Diogo Moreira had missed last Sunday's race at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli following severe abdominal pains he experienced Saturday night. Transported Sunday morning to the Infermi Hospital in Rimini, the diagnosis made by Dr. Charte at the circuit was confirmed: acute appendicitis. He returned to Spain on Monday and immediately underwent laparoscopic surgery to remove his appendix at the Dexeus Quiron University Hospital. The surgery was successful, but the Brazilian rider has to rest for several days. Doctors will then decide regarding Diogo's presence in Motegi, depending on his post-op course.

Dennis Foggia will also be absent for the Indonesia GP. Following clinical examinations on Monday, the rider from Rome was diagnosed with a gum infection, originating from a dysodontiasis of the left upper third molar. The rider underwent a tooth extraction and was discharged with stitches and drainage, which will be removed in a few days. Because of this, he was unable to embark on the long flight to Indonesia. Barring complications, he'll be in Japan next week.

"I feel badly, but I unfortunately had to undergo surgery because of an abscess in my left upper third molar, the wisdom tooth," Dennis explained. "The surgery went well, but the doctors had to make an incision to drain the abscess and remove the tooth. The stitches and drainage have to be removed in the next few days, and the doctors haven't given me the okay to leave for Indonesia, but they've assured me that I'll be back on the track by Motegi, barring complications, I feel really bad for all the guys on the team."

Moreira also hopes to be in Japan: "I'm very sorry that I'll not be able to participate in the Indonesia GP. However, I want to thank Dr. Charte and his team for the attention they gave me every step of the way. Fortunately, the surgery went well, and I'm already thinking about recovery. We'll have to see how things develop in the next few hours, but my goal is to reach the Japanese GP if the doctors allow me to do so. Thanks also to all the staff on my team for their support, I hope to catch up with them very soon."
