The KTM revolution is not over. After severing relations with technical director Fabiano Sterlacchini and crew chief Cristian Pupilin, now Francesco Guidotti's position is also teetering on the brink. The Tuscan manager, after being linked to the Pramac team for 10 years, had switched to KTM in 2022 and has a contract that expires at the end of next year, but it could end earlier.
The indiscretion has come from Spanish journalist Manuel Pecino and has more than a kernel of truth. The Austrian manufacturer wants to change many things for its future and Guidotti may be forced to leave his position as team manager. The replacement is already ready and it is reported to be Dani Pedrosa. The former Spanish rider, who was a KTM test rider after his retirement, would be ready to fill Francesco's current role.
At this moment there is nothing official yet, but the change at the helm of the team could be imminent and the announcement come as early as in the coming weeks, during either the Indonesian or Japanese GP.
The origin of the separation between KTM and Guidotti does not seem to originate from a clash, but from a difference of views on future plans. In Austria they are not satisfied with the results of the last few seasons, in which they have never been able to fight for the championship, and they want to change course for the future.
They started with a change in the technical leadership and are continuing with those in the factory team.
