MotoGP: OFFICIAL - Remy Gardner replacing Rins on Yamaha at Sachsenring

As we anticipated yesterday, Remy Gardner will taking Alex Rins' place on the Yamaha M1 at the Sachsenring Grand Prix. The Spanish rider was injured in a fall during the Assen race, and underwent two surgeries yesterday for his fractured wrist and ankle, so he'll be usign the summer break to recover. "The surgery went well, and I'm be returning home," Alex's said. "Unfortunately, I'll miss the next GP, but I hope to be back very soon. Despite this hiccup, my motivation to keep working is higher than ever."

So Quartararo will be joined Remy, who currently rides with the GRT team in the SBK and already has experience in the MotoGP, having raced with KTM in the premier class in 2022. The Australian rider will be debutting on the M1.

"First of all, I hope Alex recovers quickly, and I wish him the best," Gardner said. "I'm really excited about this challenge. I just want to really thank Yamaha for having faith in me for this weekend. I'll use it as a great experience to learn. It' s a new bike for me, and coming back to MotoGP for a race is always a great experience, so I'm looking forward to enjoying this weekend, and I'm extremely happy with this opportunity."

Quartararo will, therefore, not be alone in the garage in Germany. "The Dutch GP was difficult. I expected the race to go a bit better, especially at the beginning," Fabio admitted. "We hope to find something positive in the data and improve for next weekend. In general, I don't think the Sachsenring is a good track for us, especially the second and third sectors, which will be tricky, but we have to take the positives and try to acquire information to keep improving."
