MotoGP, Pedrosa returns to KTM as wild card in Jerez de la Frontera

During the two 2023 participations, the Spanish rider amazed everyone, despite not having competed for a long time. Boss Beirer: “We’ll reveal his upcoming commitments during the season.” Instead, there’s no news regarding Pol Espargaro’s possible return as a test rider.

MotoGP: Pedrosa returns to KTM as wild card in Jerez de la Frontera

While waiting to know the future of the new official tester, Pol Espargaro, Dani Pedrosa’s future is becoming clearer. KTM’s test rider will be a wild card in the home race scheduled for April 28th at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit.

As confirmed with Sport1 by Motorsport Director Pit Beirer, this is only the first appointment of a more complex program that, to date, remains impossible to outline. “It’ll depend on how the season is set up and on the races in which we believe tests are necessary,” the manager explained.

After retiring in 2018, the Spanish rider had participated in two events in 2023, surprising everyone with his solidity and speed, despite his long absence. Specifically, he had finished in seventh place in Spain while, after the summer break, he was fourth in San Marino.

Commenting on his performance at the end of the wildcard experience for the Austrian team, the three-time world champion said: “Valentino Rossi won his last GP at 38 and Loris Capirossi at 37. I was young at the time, and wasn’t able to place the right value on those successes. Now that I’m that age, comparing myself with the younger guys, I realize how hard it is.”

The rider from Spain has collected the most top positions in the top category without, however, being able to win the championship. Thanks to his instructions, the Mattighofen brand managed to undermine the Ducatis more than once during the past year. The goal for 2024 is to go one step further.
