MotoGP: Pol Espargarò waits to undergo jaw surgery in Barcelona

While Hervé Poncharal, Team Principal of the Gas Gas Tech 3 team, is wondering who’ll replace Pol Espargarò in Texas – since the team isn’t required to do so for the upcoming GP in Argentina – Pol was taken by medical plane from the Faro hospital to the Dexeus University Hospital in Barcelona.

The Spainish rider is now in intensive care, completing check-ups before undergoing surgery for a fractured jaw.

Remember that, in addition to this injury, Pol has two other vertebral fractures: one of the fifth cervical vertebra and another of the dorsal vertebra that doctors haven’t yet been able to determine due to swelling. He also has major lung trauma, which fortunately didn't cause his lung to collapse.

Bastianini, on the other hand, will leave tonight to undergo a visit and determine if his right shoulder blade fracture needs surgery, in order to accelerate healing. After a brief telephone consultation, Dr. Costa ruled out surgery, and Enea will now be under the care of Dr. Porcellini.
