SBK: Aegerter debuts in Jerez with Yamaha: “Finding the feeling was difficult”

The bad weather didn’t ruin Dominique Aegerter’s debut on the Jerez track riding the GRT team’s Yamaha YZF-R1. The team will line up the two-time SBK champion next season, along with the other rookie, Remy Gardner.

A special first for the Swiss rider, who wasn’t able to ride in dry conditions: “We ended the first day of testing with wet conditions. and we only did half a day. I think we did about forty-seven laps, all wet and windy. It wasn’t too cold, but the conditions were strange,”  Dominique told WorldSBK.com. “Finding the feeling with this kind of bike is difficult, with a time like this. So, let’s  say, finding the feeling and the set-up was a bit difficult. We changed the position of the seat and got used to the electronics and buttons.

After the work on the track, the Swiss rider went into more detail about the work carried out on this first test day. “It was great seeing the team for the first time and working with them, seeing how they work and how I reacted to the planned changes. Today’s main program was to make sure that everything worked and make small changes and give some feedback. Surely, we would’ve wanted some time on the track with dry conditions, but it doesn’t seem like things will be better tomorrow,” Aegerter said . “When it’s wet, I need more speed in cornering and lean angle, but we’ll get there with more laps and when I have more confidence in the bike. We’ll also change the electronic parts and settings.
