Maverick Vinales will start from eleventh place on the grid tomorrow. It wasn’t a particularly easy qualifying session for the Aprilia rider, who was almost a second down on Pecco Bagnaia's Ducati in the afternoon session.
It’s expected to be a Dutch GP race playing catch-up, but this does not seem to worry him, because in his opinion he has a few aces up his sleeve.
“The problem in qualifying was the yellow flag on my good lap - said Maverick - from FP3 to qualifying the grip improved and this unfortunately put me in crisis. The bike turned less and I was experiencing vibrations at the front, among other things. All this means that we have to improve in qualifying, even though my pace for the race is excellent ”.
Maverick is focused on the GP.
"Tomorrow will be an opportunity to do well, in the warm-up we will work on the set-up in order to be more competitive for the afternoon. The goal is the top 5 and I have more confidence than Sachsenring, but above all I understand what our limit is. "
The question of which tyre to use still remains however.
“With the soft and the medium I felt good during the weekend, experiencing excellent feelings. I haven't evaluated the hard yet, I'll do it in the morning ".
There was also time for a comment about what happened with Miller, who obstructed him.
“Jack and I spoke, he apologized in the garage and it's all OK. The fact is that I was very fast on that stretch of track, but luckily nothing happened ”.
Finally, the subject of the rider market, accompanied by the one related to mechanics and engineers. According to the latest paddock rumours, it is thought that Manuel Cazeaux (in the past he worked with Maverick) could join Aprilia from Suzuki.
“I honestly don't know about this news, really. The only thing I can say is that he is one of the best. At the same time, however, we are working well with Giovanni and Francesco. I think the 2023 MotoGP puzzle will be completed soon. The main thing in the relationship between rider and crew chief is to understand what is needed at all times and to be aligned. If Cazeaux is not by my side, it is as if he's not there ".
