MotoGP, Rossi: I am worried about the tyres

"I wear them too quickly and the difference can be made from mid-race on. We are all close, but Dovizioso has a little something extra"

MotoGP: Rossi: I am worried about the tyres

Marquez is certain: “Tomorrow, Valentino will battle for the podium and maybe even for the win”. The Doctor’s third row position does not convince the Spaniard, but Rossi is divided: on one hand he knows that he has arrows in his quiver, but on the other, he doesn’t know if there will be enough of them.

The balance in MotoGP reigns sovereign and that makes it difficult to make predictions, strategies and to understand where the hardest blows will come from in order to dodge them. So some way to chance this balance is needed - but how?

I think it will be impossible - Valentino says – The difference can be made in the last part of the race because in the first half, looking at the paces, we are all close and I am talking about a dozen riders. At a glance, the one who is sorted best seems to be Dovizioso but no one knows what will happen at the end of the race.”

What are your sensations?
I have a good pace, but I am worried because I feel the tyres starting to suffer too early. I don’t know how long I will be able to maintain a fast pace. The tyre wear will be a problem. We improved a bit in this area, but I still feel like I’m at the limit.”

Does the third row complicate matters?
It makes everything harder. I had hoped that my time was good enough for second. The track was not in optimum conditions, but everyone went very fast.”

Especially Zarco…
That’s not a surprise. He started this season the same way he finished last season and I hope to be able to battle with him tomorrow. He wasn’t the only one who was fast. Marquez and Petrucci were too. I struggle more. I am not entirely satisfied with the balance of the bike.”

Did the crash in FP3 have an impact on you?
No, there is a bump in that spot, add a bit of win and I lost the front end. I wasn’t hurt”.

So are you satisfied with the new bike?
From my little experience (laughing) the M1 works well, but we need to work on the electronics because we are still struggling in acceleration.”
