Moto2: Luthi, what a blow: season over, MotoGP debut postponed

The injury sustained by Tom Luthi during the Malaysia GP qualifying session is more serious than first thought. As you will remember, the Swiss rider suffered a violent highside, after which he was declared unfit to race, handing Morbidelli the world title as a result.

Following further tests, Luthi has been diagnosed with a broken ankle. The Interwetten rider will therefore need surgery, to be carried out tomorrow in Münsingen, which will involve the insertion of two screws. He will then need to rest for six weeks.

This comes as a real blow for Tom, who is forced to miss the final Valencia round but also the two-day MotoGP test taking place immediately after the race at the Ricardo Tormo track. His debut in the reigning class is therefore postponed until late January, at Sepang.
