Aleix Espargaró will not be able to race in the Grand Prix of Sepang and will return to Spain overnight for surgery. The Aprilia rider crashed in the race, injuring the four metacarpus of his left hand, an injury that had at first seemed not to jeopardise his presence in Malaysia.

In fact, Aleix was already at the Sama Sama today, the hotel where most of the MotoGP paddock stays. Unfortunately, his condition has worsened.

I will not be able to race in Malaysia. My hand is super painful, so tonight I fly back home for surgery” he wrote on his Instagram.
