Thomas Luthi will be teammate to Franco Morbidelli on team Marc VDS next season. As we had already announced, the Swiss rider has reached an agreement with the Belgian team to ride a MotoGP Honda next season.

Tom is a rider with plenty of experience, making his début in 2002 in the 125cc class where he won the title in 2005, then moving to 250 and finally to Moto2, a class where he is the reigning runner-up world champion.

Next year he will be sharing the garage with his direct rival for the intermediate category title, Morbidelli.

There were a number of options open to us when we were looking for a MotoGP rider for the 2018 season - explained the president of team Marc van der Straten - A former 125cc World Champion, his consistency over seven seasons in Moto2 has been incredible. He's been a constant thorn in our side in the intermediate class and this year is no different. Tom is a good fit for our team and I am both happy and proud to welcome him to the Marc VDS racing family.
