Javier Alonso, Dorna Events Managing Director and Race Direction member has left Dorna. There is no official press release as yet but things came to a head at Sepang. He had been a member of Dorna since 1992 and was the organisation's number two.
Alonso had seemed on edge for a while, despite holding a prestigious position with the organisation that manages both the MotoGP and the SBK.
In the chain of command Alonso was on the same level as Enrique Aldana, Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer and Manuel Arroyo, Managing Director, Media Area.
It's hard to believe that Alonso leaves voluntarily. But the rumours that he fell out with Ana Ezpeleta, who covers the role of New track development manager or even with Carmelo himself, a childhood friend of his, appear to have no base.
Also unconfirmed are the rumours that they want Loris Capirossi to replace him.
Javier Alonso was not very popular in the paddock, with complaints about his authoritarian behaviour. What is certain is that this situation serves as an opportunity to rearrange MotoGP management that has been in need of a change ever since Sepang 2015 and right up to the recent events at Valencia, which saw Rossi involved once again. A change that Valentino himself has requested.
