Saturday’s crash in the Sprint is the last image we have of Marc Marquez on the track. Following the accident, the Spaniard flew to Madrid to undergo two surgeries yesterday.
The first procedure was on the fifth metatarsal bone of his right foot, which fractured upon impact with the ground; the second was on his shoulder, as a screw had become slightly misaligned, as a result touching a nerve.
The worst seems to be behind him because both surgeries were a complete success, and the rider himself made sure to share the news on social media: “The surgery was a success! I'm truly grateful for your kind messages and support these last few days. A special thanks to the medical team for their incredible work.”
Now, the road to recovery lies ahead.
