Chantra: "The MotoGP has many more controls. We'll work on electronics."

"I had a good time, and the team is great. With what I learned in the MotoGP, we'll make progress on the electronics, but now I need to do more laps and get used to the Pirellis. The Superbike in Thailand? Hopefully, as soon as possible."

SBK: Chantra: "The MotoGP has many more controls. We'll work on electronics."

After bidding farewell to the MotoGP, Somkiat Chantra concluded his first two days of testing on the Honda Superbike in 10th position, with his usual smile and optimism, which have always distinguished him, even in his rookie year in the premier class. The rider from Thailand said he was satisfied with his first approach towards the Superbike championship, during which he had to first deal with the Pirelli, with braking sensations that are still difficult to interpret. The difference in electronics was also noticeable, but Chantra's know-how could prove to be an important wild card for Honda's development of before the upcoming tests.

"This first test on the Honda was good," Chantra began , "I tried to learn how this bike and these tires work, above all. We did many laps doing various tests and, in these two days, we improved by always making progress and finding new positive aspects on the bike."

What else are you looking for, in order now to adapt even more to the bike?
"I need to do many more laps, especially to understand the sensations with the Pirellis because I had difficulty in braking today. I need to improve my confidence on the bike, but I think when I find it, we can push even harder next season."

You came to the SBK from the MotoGP. What differences do you see on this bike?
"They're two completely different bikes. The MotoGP has more controls. In these tests, we also tried using power mode, TC, and engine braking similar to the MotoGP. The sensations were good, but we'll have to do some more tests and move forward, step by step."

Speaking of the MotoGP, what controls are you referring to?
"The MotoGP has a lot more electronics, both in slip, traction control, and wheelie control. The MotoGP is another level, it's clear, but now I'm in the Superbike, and I've brought with me what I've learned from that championship. I also pushed with the CBR1000RR, and I feel it went well, but we still have to ride. With the necessary changes to the electronics, it'll definitely improve, but we'll have to wait for the upcoming tests in January."

After your experience in the MotoGP, how do you rate this bike compared to your expectations?
"I had fun, and the team is great. Every time I went out, I was having fun. I'm satisfied. In terms of expectations, all I can say is that I'll give it my best in every race, trying to bring home as many points as possible."
