SBK: Season over for Petrucci: no Jerez round and first test with BMW

Danilo Petrucci's 2025 season comes to an early end. After he underwent surgery for the fourth metacarpal of his right hand on Monday, the rider from Terni was declared unfit by doctors and won't be able to take part in the last round of the season, scheduled this weekend on the Jerez circuit.

This is a truly bitter epilogue for Petrux. He had done everything possible to make sure that the injury he sustained - which had also worsened in his attempt to return in Estoril - wouldn't stop him.

Besides having to give up his goal of ending his adventure with the Barni Spark Racing team on a high note - as he attempted a third place in the Championship before his move to BMW - Petrucci will not only have to postpone his debut on the M 1000 RR, but he'll also have to skip the first two test days for 2026, which will take place on Tuesday, October 21st and Wednesday, October 22nd, also in Jerez.

"I'm feel really bad about not being able to do the last race with the Barni team. I had imagined a different ending. I was waiting for this weekend to battle for third place in the championship and say good-bye to the team with a good performance," Petrux commented. "Instead, it went differently, and it hurts even more because we couldn't fight and share this last weekend together."

Like in the 2024 Assen round, Nicholas Spinelli will be replacing Danilo in the final round of the season, alongside Yari Montella, riding the Bergamo-based team0s Ducati Panigale V4 R.
