SBK, Aragon, Yamaha hit hard with 800 revs removed!

FIM and Dorna have decided to take action after the last performance check, reducing the number of engine revs of the Japanese bike starting with this weekend's Round of World Supersport

SBK: Aragon, Yamaha hit hard with 800 revs removed!

Increasing the minimum weight of the Yamaha YZF-R9 by 5kg after the Misano round of the World Supersport Championship was not enough to reduce the competitiveness of the Japanese bike, which has continued to perform above the average of its rivals in recent championship outings.

Based on Article 2.5.3.1.3 of the FIM Supersport World Championship regulations and the latest performance check that took place following the Round at Magny-Cours, where the Japanese Supersport bike monopolized the top four positions in Race 1 and the top two in Race 2, FIM and Dorna decided to intervene and take 800 rpm off the R9.

Starting with the Round at Aragon, the Yamaha R9 will thus have 11,000 rpm instead of 11,800.
