Silverstone was not a weekend to remember for Enea Bastianini. After the difficulties encountered on Saturday in the wet, today the rider from Romagna found himself fighting in the rear, then having to throw in the towel following the contact triggered by Marc Marquez.
However, his race was virtually marked right from the start, considering that his expectations were to fight for the top positions.
“In general, I'm not happy with this weekend - he said - we changed a lot on the bike for the race, but nothing happened, in fact the GP was very difficult. I was stronger under braking than on Saturday, but not at all points on the track. After the contact with Marquez, something probably broke, and I crashed."
Enea explained exactly what happened.
"Marc touched me on corner entry at 11 and then I couldn't stop the bike, and then at 15 I went wide".
He then spoke about the difficult moment he is experiencing.
“My main problem is that I always have the usual feeling, which is that of being on a chopper. I worked on the suspension over the weekend, making some changes, but I need something more."
Enea entered into the details.
“Just to give an example: Pecco changed his setup a lot this year and I need time to understand. For sure, after this race, I have more data to pass on to my work group. I know which direction it is, but it is not easy to take, and I don't even know if I will be able to get there in the short term".
And to think that a year ago Enea was flying with the Ducati.
“The fact is that the GP23 is different. The engine is different, and the sensations are different. Physically I must be more aggressive and it's not the best thing for me. From a physical point of view, I'm fine, but the bike is nervous and it's not the best choice for me".
