He arrives in Sepang full of confidence, and he has every right, particularly after what we've seen in the last two rounds. Andrea Iannone aims to consolidate his recent performance in Malaysia, but he knows it won't be easy, with this looking to be the toughest exam of the October triple-header.

“I'm pleased with the last two races - comments #29 - to tell the truth, I didn't think we'd be fighting at this level. In Japan I was able to find good feeling with the bike in the wet, then in Australia I've often struggled in the past but what happened over the three days is the result of our hard work. The Suzuki was working well with the tyres and I think we have a good package, having put together the team's qualities and mine”.

The Maniac's mind is already on next season.

We're getting to the level that we expected to be at, we're not yet ready to be competitive every weekend but we aware of our limits and the strengths on which to focus. In some ways, I think my bike is the best on track, for other things it's the worst. So we need to balance its potential ahead of 2018”.

First though, there is the Malaysian race, one that he finished on the ground last year, crashing out while fighting for the win.

I'm happy anyway, though I expect the weekend to be tougher than the last two. If I have the same feeling I had in testing I'll be happy. But now there are different tyres so we'll have to see what kind of level we're at".
