Ducati: new ammunition and more power

As Friday's practice comes to an end at Motorland, Ernesto Marinelli provides an update on work completed in preparation for the races. The key element on the Panigale R is the new exhaust, developed with Akrapovic, that appears to have gone some way to closing the gap in power and top speed that Davies and Giugliano spoke about during the first two rounds. An innovation that makes a visual impact as well as offering greater performance.
"After Australia and Thailand the riders had asked for greater power and top speed" - states Marinelli"this new exhaust moves in that direction and is a path that, honestly speaking, we've been following since last year. A first step was made as of Portimao, and now this is another evolution."

Aside from power, are there other difference with this new configuration?
"We've improved rideability, particularly in terms of the variation in power delivery. In addition, we've saved on weight compared to the past and this, rather than being an advantage in terms of lightness - the Ducati is at the minimum limit – allows us to optimise weight distribution on the bike."

Other new features at Aragon?

"We've only made very small modifications, particularly to improve cooling seeing that from now on temperatures are likely to be higher."

Can you make any race predictions? Giugliano had some issues this morning.
"With the work we're doing we have improved, but we expect to make another step between Saturday and Sunday. In FP1 Davide had some problems that slowed him down, but we solved them and we already saw significant improvement in FP2."
