A new challenge awaits Johnny Rea in 2026 with Honda. In fact, the Japanese manufacturer has bet on the qualities of the Cannibal to relaunch the SBK project before next year. Rea is currently recovering from surgery he underwent for his right knee, and his goal is to return to the track soon.
The dates chosen seem to be January 21st to 22, at the Superbike tests in Jerez, the first of the new year.
According to our colleagues at Speedweek, Rea will take part in two events on the Superbike calendar as a wildcard. The first will be Portimão in late March, which is the first round in the Old Continent after Australia.
After that, we will see him in Donington at the British round in mid-July. Apparently, Johnny hasn't the slightest intention of giving up racing but, then again, that's not surprising.
