Lunetta's incident in the last chicane of the Assen circuit, during the penultimate lap of the Moto3 race, left everyone with bated breath. Luca races with the number 58, for Paolo Simoncelli's team, and was hit by Furosato. Fortunately, the consequences of the impact were less serious than might have been feared, though still significant.
Lunetta suffered multi-fragmented fractures of the tibia of his right leg and was transferred to Groeningen Hospital. SIC58 Squadra Corse reported that surgery will be required.
