MotoGP, Miller: "Am I worried about KTM's economic situation? I'm out by now."

"We've improved lately, but we're struggling to get the rear tire to work. I didn't expect such low grip." Binder: "The new traction control is good, but I was slipping around too much."

MotoGP: Miller:

Jack Miller didn't get beyond the 11th position in pre-qualifying, and you have to go as low as the 17th to find Binder. The official KTM's first day at Montmelo wasn't the easiest, but both took it philosophically.

"The package worked pretty well, but we'll try to improve for tomorrow. Gradually, we're getting closer to the best and, recently, weìve always been in the battle, except in Malaysia. One of the handicaps is that we don't know how to handle the new rear. The others somehow managed to get rid of the vibrations. I think they bother everyone, but we're affected by them the most, and we can't make the best use of the tires. Here, in Barcelona, whatever the compounds on the rear are, we have a lot of wear but, overall, we're not doing badly with the other solutions," the Australian rider said, analyzing the situation.

"Usually, the main issue here is overheating, especially the rear on the right side. In this weather, I was hoping that it would've been better with regard to grip, but it wasn't. Even though the temperatures went up in the afternoon, it wasn't enough," he complained.

Finally, when asked bluntly about KTM's delicate financial situation and possible consequences for the MotoGP program, he said: "I'm out. I'm just one more effort away."

The South African rider's analysis was very similar to his teammate's. "My day was good. I can't complain. I lose a lot in the last sector, like Jack. We tried an updated traction control today, and it worked well, then not much else," he admitted, before specifying what  prevented him from doing better.

"When I change direction, not being able to corner well, I spend too much time in the corner. And, when I accelerate, I slip a lot. If I could fix this issue, my job would be made much easier. With the soft compound, I expected us to be fast. Instead, in the first two laps, I noticed that we were very slow. Strange, but the thing that struck me the most was the poor grip," he concluded.
