Johnny Rea is searching for a breakthrough for next season, and a change is needed to turn things around. Indeed, a complicated year came to an end in Jerez, and the northern Irish rider has decided to shuffle the cards for 2025. For this very reason, Andrew Pitt will no longer be his crew chief.
After a difficult season spent together, the paths of Johnny Rea and the former World Supersport champion, who this year had picked up the baton from Pere Riba after the years accrued in Kawasaki, therefore separate.
A replacement is being considered at Yamaha and the name that has emerged should be that of Oriol Pallarès, or "Uri." A figure Rea knows well, to the point of having been crew chief back in his Kawasaki days and then following him in his adventure at Yamaha. The conditional is a must, because a final decision has not yet been made.
The fact is that in the Jerez tests, scheduled for late November, Johnny Rea will have a new crew chief by his side for 2025. We will see if this first move will bring the hoped-for effects or not.
