The last image of Andrea Iannone riding a MotoGP was in Valencia, then his four-year hiatus happened. As he told us in an interview this summer, his time in the MotoGP was up. But Andrea may get another chance, after all.
According to recent news, Valentino Rossi, in agreement with Dall'Igna, wants the Maniac to race in Sepang instead of Fabio Di Giannantonio. Due to the surgery the rider from Rome will undergo after Thailand, they need to find a replacement for the GP23 in the last two races.
Pirro will be in Valencia, while all clues lead to Andrea in Sepang, and his name has been strongly advocated by the Doctor. They had also contemplated Danilo Petrucci but, in the end, they didn't take that road. So, Iannone is the most probably choice for the VR46's Ducati and, in the upcoming hours, the ball will pass into the Andrea's hands for what could end up being a resounding return to the MotoGP.
Should the deal be finalized, Andrea's weekend will be a surprise, since he'll be racing without any prior test.
