The dream of every fan is to see the best SBK and MotoGP riders on the track together, and that dream today - in a certain sense - has come true. Aruba in fact organized a test in Portimao and, together with the aces of the production-derived series, there were also those of the premier class of the world championship. Ducati, in fact, also organized a test for its 8 riders and only Jorge Martin did not accept the invitation (he was training with a Supermotard). Furthermore, they were joined by Valentino Rossi, who despite now being a fully-fledged racing car driver, does not disdain going around with his pupils and... old rivals.
In fact, Marc Marquez was also present in Portugal, in action for the first time on the Panigale V4, as we wait to see him again in a few days at Sepang on the Desmosedici. The challenge is undoubtedly interesting, even if logically unequal, because by regulation MotoGP riders can only ride with almost standard bikes (no engine preparation is allowed).
While the two Marquez brothers didn't mount transponders, today the fastest on the production Panigale was Pecco Bagnaia, who set a time of 1'43.090, just 3.177 slower than Bulega with the SBK. However, Valentino did not cut a bad figure at all among his pupils, lapping just 1.6s away from the MotoGP world champion. With them there were also Bezzecchi, Marini (on the Honda), Di Giannantonio, Morbidelli and Vietti.
