Rins: "It's not a video game, the Stewards aren't worthy of the MotoGP"

“Nakagami should have been penalized like Oncu. We risk our lives here at over 350 km/h. It's not a video game. The three stewards should be removed. They need competent people."

MotoGP: Rins:

Disappointed but, most of all, very angry. Alex Rins' race in Barcelona was over after 300 meters, when Nakagami's Honda mowed him down. Like last week at Mugello, the Spanish rider had to deal with a maneuver beyond the limit committed by the LCR rider.

The Suzuki rider is definitely upset about what happened, especially because of the decision reached by the Stewards and Race Direction, since they didn’t punish Taka’s maneuver.

"First of all, I hope that Taka is okay, since I saw he wasn’t doing well in the hospital," he began. "But he can't do a maneuver like that at turn one. He was totally  over the limit, and it’s unacceptable that no action has been taken."

Rins then points his finger at Race Direction and more.

"What Race Direction and the Stewards said  about what happened makes no sense, because this cannot be considered a race accident. I already told Spencer what I thought about Taka at Mugello. In fact, they should have penalized him like Oncu last year. This is incredible, and we had proof today that the Stewards are not worthy of this MotoGP."

Alex then talks about what happened and how the consequences risk being quite heavy.

"His bike touched me, and I flew in the air, and I fell hard on my wrist. I think I broke it. I’m going to have to go to the hospital for an x-ray to see what the situation is. At the moment, I can’t move it. I’m really sad about what happened, especially with the decision reached at the top. We had an incredible pace for this GP."

Rins doesn’t mince words much, especially regarding the conduct of the decision makers.

"This isn’t a video game. We race at over 350 km/h here. He cut across first and then pulled out too late. This weekend, in Safety Commission, I showed all the riders and Webb what happened at Mugello. Some agreed with me, some didn’t. But many started talking about the Stewards, pointing out that they’re not doing their job well.  I was injured today in that accident, and both Pecco and I were excluded from the fight for the World Championship."

The Suzuki rider called for a renewal.

All three Stewards need to be changed, and I think that’s obvious, unless they prove to be worthy of the job. We need experienced and competent people.
