Carlo Pernat has once again been commenting on the Brno Grand Prix for us. A race that saw Brad Binder and KTM triumph for the first time, but also Franco Morbidelli and Johann Zarco on the podium. Instead, it was a Black Sunday for the factory Red Ducatis but also for Vinales and Quartararo.

Carlo let's start with the main protagonist: Brad Binder.
“All the doubts I had about KTM have evaporated. This result is part of Puig's and Honda's strategy: to let Pedrosa go and let him be a test rider for KTM. This was the keystone. Well done KTM and also Binder, who raced as a seasoned rider not as a rookie. On the other hand, Pol Espargarò rode very badly, he made a mistake with Zarco who was penalized in a shameful way, Johann had nothing to do with it but he made a wonderful Long Lap Penalty. I admire Marc Marquez, but in that case, he should have been penalized a thousand times in his career”.
Draw up a balance sheet for Honda…
"A disaster. Crutchlow has been operated on his right hand and is already thinking about settling down with Aprilia for next year, Bradl hasn't raced for a long time, Alex Marquez looked like a drowned rat, Nakagami is not bad but the bike is not proving to be a winner. Marquez wins, but tell us something we don’t know. Honda was wrong not to focus on young riders in its satellite team, as Ducati, Yamaha and KTM did. HRC is paying for its arrogance ”.
The rulers of Jerez went AWOL…
“Today Quartararo was simply not capable of managing the race, I give him a 5 out of 10, regardless of the tyre problems. I would give Vinales a 3 instead; while Dovizioso was embarrassing, Maverick was super embarrassing. Now he has no more excuses, the bike has been developed according to his direction, he was very happy, instead he has done some worse races than usual. I don't know if Yamaha would give him a contract now; Vinales has deeply disappointed me, unlike Valentino who gave it his all. If he had started from the second row, he could have fought for the podium, he was very good. So, I give Rossi a good 7 and a half”.
And Morbidelli?
“Franco tasted the victory, I am convinced, he was riding very well, but who expected Binder and KTM to be like this? But he came close to Brad, in my opinion he has made a decisive leap forward, like Bagnaia in Jerez. They are two riders we can count on for the future. Franco has understood that he can fight for victory”.
How do you see the Rossi-Morbidelli duo for next year?
“Petronas is happy to have Valentino for communication purposes but has laid down conditions: only one person can come to his team, maybe two. Petronas wants its own team”.
What do you expect from this championship?
"There are no more phenomena, like when there is Marquez on the track. When the phenomenon is missing, everything flattens downwards, there is no prima donna. We can expect different podiums from the usual ones, Marc raises the bar ".
