MotoGP: Quartararo, surgery for fractured finger at end of season

At the end of the season, Fabio Quartararo will be heading to the hospital. Yamaha’s French rider broke the middle finger of his left hand in Sepang during free practice. After detailed check-ups, he's decided to undergo surgery to solve the problem.

Despite his fracture, Fabio managed to get on the podium in Malaysia and keep the championship open until the last race while, in Valencia, he’ll be racing with his injured finger as he tries to defend the title. An almost desperate undertaking, considering the 23 points that separate him from Bagnaia.

After Sunday's race, Quartararo will be busy on Tuesday, again at the Ricardo Tormo, along with the other MotoGP riders on the only day of testing before the long winter break. On that occasion, he’ll find out how the development of the 2023 bike is proceeding, especially the engine, which had already positively impressed him at Misano.

Once the season is over, Fabio will then finally be able to undergo surgery and allow himself a well-deserved vacation.
