After last year's debut in Bangkok, the MotoGP's "on the road" presentation is taking shape with a clear goal: to bring the show directly to its fans, especially in Asian markets where passion for the championship continues to grow.
And the stage for this was the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, illuminated for the occasion and the absolute protagonists of the city skyline. Friday was dedicated to official team photos, but several riders were absent: Fermín Aldeguer and Fabio Quartararo, both injured, participated only via video, while Augusto Fernández replaced the French rider in Saturday's activities. However, Jorge Martín was present. Despite his injury, he still wanted to be with the team during the tests.
The highlight came on Saturday evening with the MotoGP Show Run, an adrenaline-fueled parade that transformed downtown Kuala Lumpur into a city track complete with pits and pit lanes dedicated to the eleven teams. Not even the rain that fell shortly before could dampen the enthusiasm, and the stoppie challenge between Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlioglu did not go unnoticed, with the Australian joking: "Toprak does stoppies better than me, " while also assuring his support for the Turkish rider's MotoGP debut.
The teams took to the stage in reverse order of the standings, in a show that lasted over three hours. Álex Márquez paraded alone, while Aldeguer sent a video message promising: "I'll be back on the bike soon, stronger than before."
There was great anticipation for the finale, of course , which was entrusted to the official Ducati team with Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia, who were welcomed like true superstars. "The most important thing is to get people excited, " said Marc. "After some difficult years, we are now experiencing a great moment. This year I will fight with my teammate, my brother, and everyone else." Bagnaia responded with the same determination: "I will try to make life difficult for Marc. I had very positive feelings in the tests."
The evening ended with music and fireworks, and a concert by Irish band The Script, who joined all the riders in celebrating the start of a season that already promises to be spectacular.
