MotoGP: Aleix Espargaro's fall from bike, misses Hungarian GP

There was some doubt that Aleix Espargarò, Honda's current test rider, would participate in the Hungarian GP at Balaton Park. The Spanish rider, who already fell three times in the Tour of Austria with the Lidl Trek team, slipped during training on his racing bike in Andorra.

He sustained deep abrasions on his back and arm in the accident and may also have slightly fractured his vertebra.

And, in fact, an official confirmation has arrived that Aleix will not be in Hungary to replace Chantra.

"Aleix was in a bicycle accident a few days ago. Although it initially seemed minor, he showed up at the track on Thursday morning with severe back pain. Medical tests revealed that his L3 vertebra was affected in the accident. He is now returning to Barcelona to undergo further tests at the Hospital Universitari Dexeus. Under the circumstances, Somkiat Chantra will not be replaced this weekend."
