MotoGP, Tardozzi: "When you hit rock bottom you need balls, and Pecco has them."

"We believe Pecco is the champion he has proven to be with what he has done in the past years, so we will still have him with us for a long time, I hope, to win races and championships together again."

MotoGP: Tardozzi:

Davide Tardozzi can only be satisfied with the outcome of the Grand Prix at the Sachsenring. Marc Marquez dominated and Alex Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia completed the podium. Maybe the balance would have been different without the crashes of Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi, but that's the way things went and that puts an end to all the chatter, as they say.

It's easy to get excited about Marquez's triumph, but Tardozzi's words picked up by our correspondent Riccardo Guglielmetti are directed more toward Pecco Bagnaia, a rider who until the end of 2024 seemed absolute master in the Ducati box and who in this 2025 season is struggling so much to find the right way to win again. Yesterday's Sprint was a disaster and the third step on the podium today is not enough for the rider who was winning in spurts last season.

"Pecco is a fighter, a racer and a guy who is convinced of his own abilities - were Tardozzi's words - Then there are situations, like this year's, that are not turning out well. Last year and in past years he sometimes had problems but managed to pull out of them brilliantly. I believe he will do that in the near future, I hope it will be from Brno. At Assen he gave very good signs, so we believe that Pecco is the champion he has proven to be with what he has done in the past years, so we will still have him with us for a long time - I hope - to win races and championships together again."

Yesterday, however, he seemed really discouraged.
"When you hit rock bottom is the moment when you understand if you have the balls to come back up, and Pecco has them."

Speaking of Marc, how do you comment on this victory, a true domination?
"I think Marc on this track is unquestionably the fastest. The fastest doesn't always win, but having said that ... clearly we had confidence that it could go like this, but sometimes when you have too much confidence it can happen sometimes that you make mistakes. We talked about it both Thursday and Friday and Marc clearly was very careful not to make any."

Is he unbeatable?
"The tracks will come where some other rider will be faster than him and at that moment in my opinion he will have the head to handle it. We have to win the championship and not every race. The important thing is to win that and right now for us it is very important to recover Pecco, because we continue to think that Pecco in the right conditions can fight for the wins with Marc."

How much or how much has Marc changed from testing at the beginning of the year to today?
"I think he was fast since Buriram. Right now what he has refined a lot is his relationship with the team, especially with Rigamonti and Mattia Sereni, his telemetry guy. I think there is a really good bond right now, that cohesion that allows you to understand each other even without talking. Right now there is that kind of relationship where you just need a look and with Rigamonti you understand each other on the fly."
