One of the hot topics of this Superbike market is undoubtedly the future of Toprak Razgatlioglu. As we all know, the Turkish rider's contract is expiring, so Kenan Sofugolu is looking for the best solution for him.
Among those aired is also the possibility linked to Yamaha in MotoGP, especially given the relationship with Paolo Pavesio, that is, the man who picked up the baton left by Lin Jarvis.
In recent days our Speedweek colleagues caught up with the managing director at Le Mans, who said, "We are only at the sixth race and we will make our decisions before the summer break," he commented, "before then it would be too early for our current riders. It would be very unfair, especially to Miguel Oliveira, to end this now. His accident was more serious than we initially thought."
And to think that Sofuoglu, at the Assen weekend, told us that within a maximum of three weeks we would know more: "I know Kenan's approach to the press very well, but he talks to us differently. Fortunately, things are a little different from the way he tells things to the media."
Finally, Pavesio did not shy away from praising the qualities of the SBK world champion: "He is exceptionally talented in the things he has done so far. Becoming a MotoGP star takes time, work and adaptation - his talent, however, is a given. The test 2 years ago was interesting in some respects, but for various reasons it did not go as planned. At that time Toprak was not clear on what choice to make and stayed in the World Superbike Championship. Toprak and Yamaha will always have a good relationship, remembering that he is the only rider besides Ben Spies to have won a Superbike title with us."
