On the one hand there is the World Championship battle between Toprak and Bulega, on the other there is news of a sensational return to MotoGP, even if only for one race. Andrea Iannone could in fact replace the injured Fabio Di Giannantonio on the Ducati GP23 of the Pertamina VR46 team, returning after five years in that paddock that made him known to the world of two wheels.
Precisely on this issue The Maniac was immediately pressed for an answer. As you will read Andrea didn't take a position, denying that he has a proposal on the table even though we are of a different opinion. Of course we understand him given the position he is in.
"I cannot confirm anything because I have not received any call," he began, "I just read a lot of news around and nothing more. Should I receive a call, I will start thinking about it and then decide."
Looking at what Bautista did, don't you think racing without testing would be risky?
"I don't know. Right now I'm here and I don't have any proposal on the table much less anything certain."
Rumors, however, are growing about your presence in Sepang.
"I'm here and I'm thinking about this weekend, since it's my priority. In Jerez we can have a good weekend and I think if I can gain a few tenths I can get a great result. This is the last race of the season and I would like to end the season in the best possible way."
Don't you think it would be a great opportunity to come back after five years?
"I know it's interesting for anyone to come back to MotoGP racing, but for the moment I haven't talked to anyone. I have nothing on the table and should I have something in the future I would think about it. However, there is no point in starting to think about things without having anything on the table, because it is just a distraction."
Speaking of the weekend, what do you expect?
"Under braking and in Turn 6 as well as in the last corner we have to try to improve and I will work on that, since I was also suffering under braking in Estoril in Turn 1. Unfortunately, the bike gets nervous and I have trouble handling it under braking, so we will see how to intervene."
