Yesterday being sick in his helmet took him out of action, today it was Jorge Martin instead. Austin was a weekend to forget for Alex Marquez, who returns home with zero points. And to think that the Spaniard's expectations were quite different, instead the final balance from the US round left a bad taste in the mouth.

“My heart hurts more than my body from this crash – he said – in the end, however, these things happen. Martin apologized for the move on me, and I accepted it. He made a mistake at 2, then at 3 he tried to recover what he lost, but he made a mistake going onto the dirty side and ended up on the ground. But it’s something that can happen to me tomorrow. It has happened in the past, will happen in the present and will happen again in the future. So I accept he's sorry and that's it. For me, it's closed. It’s racing.”

Alex was then asked whether the Pramac rider should be penalized.

“I don't know if he should be penalized or not, since it's not me who has to judge. The most important thing is that these things are discussed immediately among the riders in order to clarify them, without having them exaggerated by the media. When I talk about the media, I mean in general of course, without pointing the finger at anyone.”

It was clear that Martin made a mistake.

“The question of penalties is a lottery. There is a regulation, but it depends on interpretation. Jorge made a mistake that affected my race, but it's not up to me to decide. I'm disappointed, because here I did my best performance of the season, and I picked up zero points".

Finally, a comment about Rins' success.

“I'm not at all surprised by his victory, as he has always been strong here in Austin. He did a perfect race and I congratulate him. As I said before, I'm disappointed about the crash, but it will be interesting to see our level in Europe, seeing as I can be consistent with the Ducati. Here it took very little to make a mistake with this asphalt and end up on the ground".
