MotoGP, Acosta: "After the Jerez tests, I know my KTM better"

"I'm looking forward to racing in Le Mans. It's going to be a home race for Tech3." Augusto Fernandez: "I got my best result in MotoGP in France. The tests helped me."

MotoGP: Acosta:

When Hervè Poncharal learned that one of his riders in 2024 would be Pedro Acosta, he certainly envisioned himself welcoming a strong, fast, and talented rider to the team. But what Pedro has demonstrated in the first four races of 2024 is probably beyond the French manager's rosiest expectations. On the eve of the home GP, he's realized that he hasn't ended up with a diamond in the rough but rather a genuine prodigy who floored everyone.

Acosta is, in fact, the revelation of this season. A rookie who races with the experience and poise of a veteran, little prone to error, and absolutely in control of the situation. The Jerez tests probably allowed him to further progress just before the race in France. A very important round for Poncharal and Tech3.

"We're arriving in France with a lot of things we've learned in Jerez," Acosta stated. "After four races, we knew what areas we needed to improve in, and the tests helped us a lot in that sense. So, I think we're heading to France in a much better position."

You haven't had a first win yet, but everyone agrees it's only a matter of time.
"Le Mans is a circuit I like, and it's also the home Grand Prix for the Tech3 team. So, we'll try to do our best, starting with improving our qualification on Saturday and trying to get a good grid position. I can't wait to race there, in front of a crowd that loves motorcycling like crazy!"

In the other half of the garage is Augusto Fernandez. In Le Mans, he hopes to regain the good sensations he hasn't had in a while on his bike. The Spanish rider had performed very well in 2023, in his MotoGP debut season. But he now seems to have somewhat lost his bearings.

"I'm excited to go to France. I love Le Mans, where I've gotten very good results in the past. Most recently, last season, when I got my best MotoGP result. The start of the season has been difficult for us. We're not going to Le Mans at the best time, but we're really motivated to do well there. We know that we have to work well starting Friday morning, and try to get a good qualification and a good race on Sunday. The Jerez tests helped me gain a little more confidence with the bike and, hopefully, going to a track that I really like will be an advantage for us."
