Their primary focus is on testing, because of the data that can be collected both from the riders and the vehicles. The freedom to test at any circuit offers flexibility and the opportunity to address specific challenges. Time is on their side because they have an “extra time” to enhance their vehicle parts and settings. Their engineers will have the right information and will be able to make improvements especially in the electronics part of the vehicles. But testing without innovation means nothing. At the end of the day, it is helpful to focus more on the bike but the essential part is the ideas that teams will have to come up with.

Even though these concessions are a sign of relief, both Yahaha and Honda have so much work to do.

YAMAHA

This year’s focus is on organizational changes giving more obligations and authority to their European headquarters in Monza. Their engineering team led by Luca Marmorini has been working on the engine for M1.

Aerodynamics is another field where Yamaha has been putting resources in. The takeovers from Ducati will be a great enhancement to the engineering team in the area of aerodynamics and testing, bringing fresh ideas and innovations. Another sign of their focus is the partnership with ROBOZE in 3D printing with high performance materials in less time compared to what they did before.

Regarding the bike issues, Yamaha’s M1 surprised us with impressive speed, but challenges are seen in translating pace into race results. In this quest for redemption, riders play a pivotal role. HONDA

With Marc Marquez leaving the team and without his extinguished talents being part of the factory’s planning for 2024 many aspects of the strategy and development must be going under revision and reconstruction. It’s a fact that Honda are best at building an outstanding machine and that’s where they need to focus on. When equipped with fresh tires and ample grip, the Honda exhibits the potential to clock impressive lap times. However, once the tire's performance begins to deteriorate and grip diminishes, the bike's overall performance experiences a significant decline. While capable of qualifying competitively, its performance during the race diminishes noticeably.

Honda's lineup, featuring seasoned veterans and emerging talents, symbolizes a blend of experience and ambition, very much needed for this reconstruction. The names leading the changes are Luca Martini, Johann Zarco and Takaaki Nakagami, having exceptional talent, expertise and support from the fans worldwide.
