Acosta on his MotoGP debut: “First of all, I’ll have to get to know the team”

The Moto 2 rider adopts a mature approach: “The test will help me understand how those bikes ride.” And he confides in the Tech 3 team: “The presence of many former KTMs will help us.”

MotoGP: Acosta on his MotoGP debut: “First of all, I’ll have to get to know the team”

Fresh from the Moto 2 title, and now just a few days away from his debut with GasGas in the MotoGP, Pedro Acosta prefers not to look too much towards tomorrow and focus on the last round of the season, which will start on Friday at the Valencia circuit.

It’ll be hard to manage emotions, but I want to think about my last race in the second category. It won’t be easy at the beginning. I’ll have to get to know the team, how they work, the KTM project, but I’ll think about that on Monday and Tuesday. I’ll have all winter to work on it. I just have to try to enjoy the moment during the test and figure out how to ride that type of bike,” he stated while speaking to the media. “I know that the parent company has moved many men from the official team to Tech 3. This should speed up the process.”

When questioned about the things he learned in the three years spent on the Ajo team, the Spanish rider responded in a singular way, but admitted that, on Sunday evening, he’ll do nothing to hide any tears. “Competing is easy if you keep calm, but I’m always the same as before. It was nice to stay here, they helped me a lot to grow as a man, since I was very young when I arrived.”

Instead, when teased about the number that he’ll be wearing starting from the next championship in the premier class, Acosta was silent and mysterious: “You'll find out on Tuesday morning.”
