SBK: Bautista: “We’ve found interesting solutions for the future”

After a complicated Tuesday, where he ended the in 7th place, seven tenths from Rinaldi’s best time, Alvaro Bautista found the right sensation on this second and final day of testing at the Motorland in Aragon. The greater grip offered by the track, and the improvement in weather conditions, helped the Spanish rider regain his pace on his Panigale V4R, as we can see in the classification in which the Ducati rider is only 67 thousandths away from the leader, Jonathan Rea.

My sensation on the bike improved today, also thanks to the fact that there was a little less wind. Yesterday, my sensations weren’t  the best, while I felt more at ease today, and we were able to work normally,” Bautista said, satisfied with how this return to his Ducati ended after the summer break.

Bautista also got the chance to test a new MotoGP-style fork, designed with the upcoming season in mind.

We tested a new front fork and worked on the set-up, above all, trying to improve when braking. We found some interesting things for the future, which gave me good sensations, while others didn’t work as well as we expected,” Alvaro admitted when speaking about the work they carried out during the day.

Despite a fall at Turn 14, the 38-year-old rider had a positive outcome after these two days of testing: “In the end, I think we worked very well, and I’m very happy for these two days,”  he stated. “Especially because I had a bit of a problem finding the right sensation the first day, while everything was more normal today, and I had fun.”
