A 7th place that represents a boost of confidence. Franco Morbidelli and the Yamaha move forward in small steps, and this performance lifted the morale to the rider from Tavullia, who started out in Mandalika from a 15th position.
He attacked in this race and showed he was confident with the conditions of the asphalt, which was certainly not easy to tackle.
"We managed to straighten out a disastrous Saturday between falls and penalties,” he commented. “Today's race was a positive one, and I’m happy. I still lack experience on this M1 to be as fast as I'd like, even if I'm on the right track."
So the outcome was positive.
“I'm excited. Despite some mistakes, we're still resilient. Now we have to prepare for Argentina and try to make the right moves."
There's obviously a hint of regret about starting from behind.
“I could’ve fought for more interesting positions. I don't know if it would’ve been the podium or not. In the end, it went well anyway."
