MotoGP, Dovizioso: "The real weekend starts tomorrow"

Andrea eighth in FP2 at Aragón: "The goal was to be in the top 10", Lorenzo finishes second: "Today was important to gather valuable data"

MotoGP: Dovizioso:

The first day of free practice on the Aragón track finished with an eighth and second place respectively for Andrea Dovizioso and Jorge Lorenzo. It was a transitory day for both of them, given the particular weather conditions with the rain in the morning that wet the track on the outskirts of Alcañiz and that, in fact, kept them from making any particular changes to the setup of the Ducati GP17 other than some adjustments to the electronics.

For Andrea Dovizioso, who finished with a time of 2’00”962, the real Aragón weekend will begin with FP3 tomorrow morning: "Today was not a particularly interesting day - explained the rider who is tied with Marquez for the championship lead - we had some unlucky conditions with the rain in both practice sessions, but there was too little water to work on the bike in wet conditions and too much to work on it in the dry configuration."
And then he added: "We made some adjustments to the electronics and not much else. I lapped more than anything with the goal of being in the top ten, but the real weekend will start for us tomorrow” Andrea concluded.

Jorge Lorenzo did the second best time at 2’00”072 and in any case, he took advantage of the day to improve his feeling on the bike from Bologna in delicate conditions like those of today. And the end result, despite the weather and track conditions, is not to be underestimated: “We used the day today to improve a few details on the bike. Tomorrow we will probably not have the same conditions as today, but we accumulated data that could be valuable in the future.” To those who talk about a cautious Jorge when the asphalt gets wet, he replies: “This is what a lot of people believe - Jorge responds with confidence - but for me it is important to have confidence in the tyres and the asphalt. If I have confidence, then I am able to be competitive, whether it is dry or wet.”
