MotoGP: Marquez: Honda has found a good base now

With a 16-point lead over Dovizioso, Marquez heads to Silverstone thinking about how to extend that advantage come Sunday afternoon. On the one hand, he knows that he can be fairly confident heading into the weekend, now that his Honda is working as he'd like. In addition, Sunday's test at Misano served to iron out a few details.

On the other hand, though, the competition is tougher than ever, with four hunters hot on the hare's heels and ready to exploit the slightest false move.

Step by step, we’ve been able to find a good base for our bike and this is very good, as one of my goals is to always be there at the front and be very consistent at all tracks and in all conditions - assures Marquez - Of course we’ll try for the same at Silverstone, a circuit that I like, though we know it will be a challenging round as our opponents are usually very strong there."

He is too of course, with 3 pole positions in the last 4 years, but only one win in 2014.

"Last year we did a good job during the weekend and only on race day we probably didn’t make the perfect choice with the front tyre. This year we’ll try and do everything to be able to fight for the podium again.”

Pedrosa also wants to do well with the consistency shown in the last races speaking volumes. Dani is the last of the group of 5 riders fighting for the title, but with 35 points to make up, he has everything to play for.

The team is working well, in Austria we overturned a difficult weekend to get a positive result in the race. Now we go to a difficult track which is bumpy and where the weather is always unstable! We'll be aiming to improve and be focused because last year was difficult."
