After Zarco, the Tech3 team has also decided to reconfirm Jonas Folger for 2018, officially announcing it at Mugello. The French team will thus continue with the same two riders, both rookies this season.
Despite the German having been slightly overshadowed by the Frenchman's performance, Jonas has already scored some concrete results in MotoGP, having finished top ten in fourth of the five races run, with a 6th place finish in Argentina his best result so far.
“I am really happy about continuing with Hervé and the awesome Monster Yamaha Tech3 team for 2018 - commented Folger - So far this year, I am very pleased with the performances but there is much more to come from me. I believe that we can carry on progressing."
Team manager Hervé Poncharal added: “Just two weeks after the announcement that Johann Zarco will remain with us for the 2018 season, we are really pleased to confirm that Jonas Folger has also signed for another year with the Monster Yamaha Tech3 team. I am delighted to retain Jonas and he has been doing a great job on the Yamaha so far. He has finished all five races in the points, and only once outside of the top ten. For sure, everyone is very impressed with his teammate Johann and there may be a bit more attention on him, but we cannot forget that Jonas is doing a superb job as a rookie.”
