OFFICIAL: Pedrosa renews with Honda until 2018

Dani Pedrosa has decided: he's stay with Honda for a further two years, paired (though it has not yet been made official) with Marc Marquez. The relationship between the Tokyo-based manufacturer and the Spanish rider began in 2001, the year in which Dani made his debut in the 125 world championship.

From that moment on, they were never apart and Pedrosa has ridden with the MotoGP factory team since 2006. A marriage that has led to 142 podiums (101 in the reigning class) and 51 wins, without forgetted his title win in 125 and his two 250 titles.

“I’m very happy to be able to announce my renewal with the Repsol Honda Team - commented Pedrosa - I’m very grateful to Honda for the trust they’ve shown in renewing with me for an additional two years. I think it’s best for me to continue with the company I was with at my very first race. I’m happy that the negotiations have been quick, and now I can just focus on racing."

Executive vice president of HRC Shuhei Nakamoto added: “We’re very pleased to renew our contract with Dani, and we really appreciate his loyalty to Honda and HRC. We’ve been working together for many years, but we always see in Dani the same passion and dedication. His experience is very important for helping our technicians to develop our bike, and we’ll do our best to help him to demonstrate all his talent”
