MotoGP, Aleix Espargarò: I expected more of myself

VIDEO. The Suzuki rider talks about the first half of the season: "I am regaining confidence in the bike. The goal is the top 6 positions"

MotoGP, Aleix Espargarò: I expected more of myself

Aleix Espargarò is not pleased with the first half of his season and he is not hiding it. Suzuki improved over the winter, but the Spaniard is well aware that he did not exploit its full potential. Something that his teammate Maverick Viñales did, on the other hand, who despite a few misteps, managed to ride his GSX-RR to a podium finish.

It was a difficult  beginning of the season and I expected much more of myself - Aleix does not hide - I struggled a lot with the Michelins and in the winter I also crashed a lot. We are rebuilding confidence and in the last few races, especially in the dry, I did better.

He is also pleased with the bike's progress.

We are still lacking a bit of power and traction, but it is closer to the best bikes compared with last year - he says - Braking is our strong point and the frame and seamless gearbox are also working well.

A good starting point for his final races astride the GSX-RR before going to Aprilia at the end of the season.

“I am not at the level that I wanted. I had ups and downs and not always great confidence in the bike. Now things are going better and in this second half of the year I want to try and finish in the top 6 as many times as possible” promises Espargarò.
