MotoGP, Di Giannantonio: "The fall? When I got up, I saw the umbrellas flying."

"It was a gust of wind. The new holeshot lever? Ask Dall'Igna. It's one of the new features brought by Ducati, but I still don't understand how much of an improvement it is or not."

MotoGP: Di Giannantonio:

Fabio Di Giannantonio finished the Jerez tests in 18th place, but the time really didn't matter much to the Pertamina VR46 rider. In fact, his priority was being in synch with the electronics and crew chief, as well as assess some new features brought by the Borgo Panigale manufacturer.

The outcome seems positive, and the rider from Rome is ready to head to Le Mans with confidence and, at the same time, awareness.

"Today, I worked on a couple of things brought by Ducati, one of which turned out to be an improvement, and I hope to use it at Le Mans. We also focused on working closely with the crew chief and electronics. The goal was to figure out the direction to follow, in order to have a solid foundation, something we lacked in the race. In fact, we often went by trial and error, although we were then able to be fast and competitive."

You missed the time attack.
"We didn't need the time attack, because we had other priorities."

What happened with the fall?
"I fell because of the strong wind that was blowing. I tried to break away as usual, but I lost the front. It took a second to realize what was happening. Then I saw the the umbrellas of the marshalls fly away, too. Fortunately, nothing happened. It was all fast, and I didn't get hurt."

In a test like today's, was it possible to make significant changes to the bike?
"You can, but in my case, we had other things to do. We don't need major changes, since I feel really good on the bike. I'm confident. The only thing is that I just need to maximize performance."

What can you tell us about the new lever to operate the holeshot?
"It's one of the new features brought by Ducati, but it's not clear if there's been an improvement or not. You'll have to ask Gigi about the rest. If you want, I'll write to him," he said, jokingly. "We need time to understand whether it's going to be of use or not, because it's not clear to us."
