MotoGP, Acosta: "Grip and traction disastrous, but crying doesn't help"

"Everyone has more grip than we do. For some reason,, as soon as conditions change the bike responds differently. My riding style? It's the same as last year."

MotoGP: Acosta:

Pedro Acosta certainly didn't make a bad impression in the Sprint Race at Jerez de la Frontera, coming in 12th at the start and 10th at the checkered flag. But, compared to last year, the rookie's magic seems to have disappeared. Unable to find a solution, the talented rider from Mazarron is being overshadowed by a more experienced Viñales who, more than the other KTM riders, is capable of reading and interpreting the 2025 version of the RC16.

"It's not easy when things don't go the way you want them to," he admitted. "The only solution is to keep working to get out of this hole we're in. Friday wasn't a bad day and, this morning, besides the crash, I wasn't bad in terms of pace. But, for some reason, as soon as the conditions change, the response of the bike changes. In Qatar, for example, in free practice two, from one moment to the next, I was no longer able to finish a lap. At this point, we can only analyze and look for a way out. Feeling sorry for ourselves won't put us in a better position."

"By now, every session is a surprise, and you don't know what to expect. Not understanding the reason is the hardest aspect. In Lusail, Maverick was fast, and the medium tire helped. Let's hope for the same tomorrow," he continued in his reflections. "To date, it seems that any other manufacturer has more grip than us. The first laps of today's sprint were a disaster in terms of grip and traction."

Finally, with regard to his seemingly different way of riding the bike than last year, he said: "I'm riding the same way, so I'd say that my style hasn't really varied. It's equally true that nothing changes if I'm more gentle or aggressive."
